Our Story

EzHR wasn't born in a corporate boardroom. It was sparked by a shared belief that small and medium-sized businesses deserve better.

Co-founders Jason and Matt first crossed paths at Dakota State University, an institution renowned for its deep focus on technological innovation and systems engineering. It was there they built their foundations in advanced networking, database architecture, and computer information systems. That tech-forward mindset stuck with them throughout their careers as they moved into entirely different, yet equally high-stakes industrial and enterprise environments.

To bridge the gap between complex engineering and everyday business needs, they decided to separate their decades of experience into two core pillars:

• Jason's Foundation (Industrial Automation & Real-Time Controls): Serving as the Director of Machine Controls at Commercial Timesharing Inc. (CTI), a Poling Group company specializing in precision tire testing machinery, industrial data acquisition, and factory host management systems, Jason spent years at the intersection of hardware and heavy industrial software. He led teams engineering robust controllers, advanced analytics tools, and factory floor information systems designed to process high-speed telemetry and streamline enterprise manufacturing workflows, engineering complex systems to run with absolute predictability, reliability, and zero downtime.
• Matt's Foundation (Cybersecurity, Enterprise IT & Operations): Matt anchored his track in mission-critical infrastructure across Defense, Intelligence, and Managed Services. Having served as a Technical Branch Chief within the Department of Homeland Security and a Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army, he spent years architecting systems to defend against insider risk and protect sensitive data across hundreds of thousands of endpoints. He later brought that cybersecurity mindset and lean operational rigor to commercial Managed Service Providers (MSPs), optimizing service delivery architecture, data isolation, and infrastructure stability for scaling businesses.

Throughout their parallel leadership tracks, Jason and Matt kept hitting the same glaring problem.

They saw mid-market and small businesses constantly forced to compromise.
